Viole(n)t

Violet. Add an n and it becomes violent.

My dark sonnet, "Song of the Violet Chasuble" has been accepted for publication in the September issue of Pulsebeat. Thank you to editor David Stephenson.

Although my work had been published on six occasions in the past, the poetry editor of First Things was too chicken (not to mention rude) to even acknowledge receipt of my submission of "Song of the Violet Chasuble" to his journal back in May.

Maybe it hit too close to home for his readers.

 Flammarion Woodcut Pilgrim Redux

He scans the sky and wonders if the Hubble
will burst (or not) the quintessential bubble,
plotting new data on a deep field chart
light years removed from any human heart.

A recent reading of poems from the anthology (including my poem, read by poet Ned Balbo at minute 46:54) is available online HERE.
